Basildon Borough Council
Warden Call System Replacement & Maintenance
Scope
Installation & Ongoing Term Maintenance
Contract start
September 2014 to 2025.
Location
Essex
The challenge: Basildon Borough Council needed to replace ageing warden call systems across multiple sheltered housing schemes throughout the borough and appoint a single contractor capable of managing the full lifecycle: from initial installation through to long-term planned and responsive maintenance. Systems to be replaced included warden call, door entry, access control and domestic smoke and heat detection, including telecare devices.
Our approach: We delivered a structured three-year warden call replacement programme across Basildon's sheltered housing schemes in Essex, replacing legacy equipment with compliant, fully tested systems. Before work began, we carried out a detailed asset survey and condition appraisal, providing an accurate baseline for both the replacement programme and the term maintenance contract that followed.
The handover from installation to maintenance was seamless; the same engineering team that installed the systems continued as the ongoing maintenance contractor, eliminating the knowledge gap that typically arises when installation and maintenance are split between different providers.
